Get ready to experience classic New York City in this musical comedy about rolling the dice and falling in love under the lights of Broadway in what has been described as the perfect musical comedy!

 

Our Theater Program gives young actors an encouraging introductory musical theater experience, from an exciting first day of getting to know the show to an exhilarating final performance. Every child will be assigned a named role and have a chance to shine. With the guidance of an experienced teaching artist, actors will learn the skills to bring this fun play to life on stage. Families will be provided instructions for how to assemble a costume for the final performance in June!

 

In a mythical New York City, gambler Nathan Detroit attempts to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities are breathing down his neck. He has another problem, too. Adelaide, nightclub performer and Nathan’s exasperated fiancée of 14 years, has nearly had it waiting for their wedding day to finally arrive. Nathan takes on another risk as he bets fellow gambler, Sky Masterson, that Sky can’t get a date with the pious leader of the Save-a-Soul Mission, Sarah Brown. This musical fable of 1930s Broadway is populated with colorful gamblers, showgirls, and missionaries plus classic songs like “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat,” “A Bushel and a Peck” and the showstopping “Luck Be a Lady.”

 

Students will be introduced to the world of theater with a variety of fun classes. They will learn theater games, improvisation, warmups, voice and diction, terminology, acting, and scenery construction, all while developing a character and rehearsing for a full staged production just for family and friends at the end of the session.

 

During classes, students will learn the basics of acting, props, costumes and create scenery. They can do one or all of these things and we are encouraging their creativity in this as we create a fun and energy filled show that will allow your star to really shine in this Spring!
